The 2007/2008 Select Program will be forming girls and boys 1997 and 1998 Developmental teams. All committed WYSL players born in 1997 and 1998 (maximum of a 50 player pool, per gender) will be accepted into the program. There are no tryouts for these teams. Developmental Teams will stress small-sided games to promote ball skill and control under the guidelines of US Youth Soccer Player Development System. The goal is to provide a “pressure-free”, higher level of training not generally available to players of this age on their WYSL club teams.
Normally Monday evening practice sessions will be 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM, will begin in November through mid December (weather permitting) for the fall and resume in March and continue until June. Practice venues are 1/2 of the time at Tibbetts Park in Yonkers and 1/2 at Saxon Woods field in White Plains. The program culminates with inter-league round robin-like scrimmage games (or an event of a similar nature) at the end of June.
