Pier 40-Houston St. & West Side Highway, Manhattan, New York City
CARPOOLING IS RECOMMENDED TO SAVE ON PARKING AND TOLLS
From the North coming down the west side of Manhattan: Take Taconic Parkway south to Saw Mill Parkway south to Henry Hudson Parkway south to West Side Highway south. Go past Chelsea Piers at 23rd Street to HOUSTON STREET, which is the equivalent of 1st Street (numbers descend as you go south). Turn right at the light and the fields are the center of the Pier 40 complex.
From the North coming down the east side of Manhattan: Take the FDR Drive all the way south and wrap around the southern end of Manhattan. Turn left at the light at HOUSTON STREET to enter the complex, or turn right on Clarkson to park on the side streets.
PARKING: You have two options. 1) Park at the Pier, which is very convenient (cost is about $15, which is $3 to $5 per player if carpooling). Parking entrance is on left side of complex. Take a ticket and make the first left turn, don’t go all the way up the ramp. Pay at the machine before you leave.
2) Free parking on the side streets. Take the Clarkson Street exit on the left side before Houston and park on the side streets. On Sundays there are no meters to feed and alternate side parking rules are suspended. You may be able to find parking on Clarkson, or Greenwich (first cross street) or Hudson (second cross street).
IF YOU MESS UP: If going south you miss HOUSTON STREET and Pier 40 entirely, make a U-Turn at one of the next lights, Canal or Chambers Streets. If you are going north and miss HOUSTON STREET, take a right at the next side street and come back south on Greenwich. |
